Save your money. IMO, the originals look better. When one has seen so many wearing the original "correct" wheels, and then ya see an aftermarket wheel on an asc, it just looks "wrong" ~ Maserati makes probably THE most georgous seats in the automotive industry, but if ya took 2 of them & put them in an ascMcLaren, beautiful as they are, it too would just look wrong. in the same way.

Wheels.......
Not bad, its nice to have another choice in 4 lug!!! I'd have to see them mounted on a car to reach a decision.
So, your seriously considering them huh?
If so, I know where you could get rid of your Cobra Rs..........

I agree, I would want to see them mounted or possibly a photoshop of them mounted to make a final decision.shelbyscarab wrote:Not bad, its nice to have another choice in 4 lug!!! I'd have to see them mounted on a car to reach a decision.
I don't think they look too bad though, they almost have a 1980's look to them.

I have my originals and plan on keeping them safe in the garage, have them redone and tucked away to keep them new looking. So henceforth I want a set to drive around on that will improve looks and handling. The way I look at my '88 is my toy that isn't to far from stock. I will someday own a pristine '90 ASC McLaren that will be put in a bubble or time capsule.
I would love to see these GT500's on another Mustang, I was thinking the same thing and sent a request to the selling person for additional pics.
The Cobra R's on the car now need rechroming. Hard to imagine since they only have about 100miles tops on them. I had my inspection done recently and only put on 20miles since last years! I hope to do some more driving on this car though. I have allot invested in her and like to finally start using it.

Yes I like them but not for this car. How do I try to explain this, I was never a fair weather fan or into fadish things. If I like something its cause it appeals to me and I will always like it. However if I were to place these on an ASC the Pony center caps would be replaced with a blank center cap that I can place the letters ASC on. Next they are only 16" and would likely not make enough of an impact on the handling as I would want with a substitute wheel.Sandy wrote:What are your feelings towards a set of chromed ponies ? Well, ask and ye shall see it at a car show.
At the Woodward Dream Cruise this weekend, there was a guy there that had '89 Red GT convertible with these rims on it. Sorry didn't get a pic of it. I'm not sure they look right on the fox body '87-'93. They're OK I guess, but I don't think they look as good as a set of 17" Cobra Rs....
