spray paint

Post by 85McLaren »

I accidentally posted this in the classfied section - sorry. Maybe sandy or mike can delete this off the classified section....

Hope this hasn't been posted before, but I'll ask anyway.

Has anyone found touch up - spray paint that closely matches the mclaren colors? My 88 sterling silver needs some pieces touched up. Like the molding that attaches to the top of the doors. Going to take it off, but am looking for some spray paint that closely matches it....

SANDY - I KNOW YOU MUST KNOW THE ANSWER TO THIS...

"Sterling Silver Metallic" as named on the 1987 through 1990 ascMcLaren is actually 1983 Ford Escort "Siver Clearcoat Metallic" - Code 1Q

On this site (Somewhere??) is the list of paint colors, and where they came from. It does make for some interesting reading making you wonder how & why each color was selected. They came from all over the world, using Ford, GM, Chrysler, Nissan, Toyota, and from Spain Seat colors as well as Chrysler-of-France, and even Triumph from England !! ascMcLaren used SIKKENS of HOLLAND paint, exclucively. In America, they are headquarted in Norcross, Georgia. If you call, have your ZIP code ready. They are extremely helpful !!

I looked under CLASSIFIEDS and do not see it........ :?:

Should you wanna use DuPont/Ditzler, here are the mixnumbers for all McLarens:-
