Imperial

Post by 75coug »

I know that Sandy doesn't consider it to be a true Imperial, but the July, 2008 Hemmings Classic Cars magazine has a feature on the 1981 Imperial. I always thought that they had very cool styling, and the fact that they were used in NASCAR was intriguing.

Actually, I do consider the 1981-1983 Imperial, to be a REAL Imperial. So much so, that I bought new a 1982 in "Goldenrod" Metallic (Bright Gold). with Tan Leather.
They were just very unreliable problem plaqued cars, that the avarage buyer kept for under 3 years. Most, were dumped in under 2 years. The EFI system (Not designed by MOPAR) was horrid and would not function.

The re-named 1976-1978 New Yorker Broughams, were THE real last Imperials, as they were a continuation of the 1974-1975 Imperial LeBaron, just simply re-badged. as Chrysler New Yorker Broughams.

...and then there was the 1990-1993 Imperial made off of the stretched K-Kar

But...the REAL last one was the 1978 N.Y. Brougham, no matter what Mother-Mopar called it.....
Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.
