Post by negusm »

I somehow managed to acquire some of these speakers and covers...Sandy's got the same setup in his car!

Thinking of selling them since I have an 85 and don't really need these. But it's pretty cool to finally touch some :D

I'm not sure.

Half of me wants to keep them. I've always been on the hunt for 85/86 covers for roughly 5 years now. The only set of 86 covers I have ever seen.

The other half of me wants to put it on ebay to see what they might go for.

The speakers still sound good also. I also have the front Kenwoods but they are dry rotted.

Well I wanted them back when I wasn't sure what went in my car.

When I figured out that my car got the 6.5" ROUND Kenwoods, which were the same as the convertibles, I got some covers from Hank and speakers on-line. But I never stopped looking for any of the audio stuff. That's how you got that new Alpine :D Cause I still keep an eye out for all that stuff!

I always thought it sorta weird that cars being made
AT THE SAME TIME, in the same plant, by the same
people, and the same brand of car, recieved
different audio components! Rectangle VS round
speaker grilles, possibly different speakers, Kenwood
branded product,
Alpine branded product and I have also seen Jensen
branded product. It seemed to only take place in the
stereo department. 84 85 & 86 coupes all seem to be
pretty exact in ascMcLaren add ons and deletes, 'til it came
to the stereo.
Then the 'Verts (Mustang) made do with FoMoCo Am-Fm
Stereo/Cassette standard fare stuff. :?:

When at the car show sunday talked with a guy that worked for ASC in 85 and 86 One thing he said that at times they did what ever was needed to make the car go out. Like not changing the tie rod ends or painting trim just so they could deliver the car. I guess the same thing could happen with the audio stuff.
