There was also a little known option for 1989/1990 of Special Order Paint Color. Only 1 such car was made, and the owner was a former (retired) Ford Dealer and he stated to me that he was NOT charged the listed $800.00 for the option. His car was painted in Truimph "British Racing Green" to go with it's Sand Beige interior & Tan Roof (1989 car).

Here is what I was told from an ascMcLaren employee. Okay? !!!

At the end of 1989 conversion of the 247 ascMcLarens, there were 7 or 8 cars that were left over. What had happened, was they were cars that dealer's ordered, either for stock, or "SOLD" units to waiting customers.
Either the dealer(s) or the customer(s) CANCELLED the order, but the car(s) were in the final stages of being built.
The cars had no place to go, they were "homeless" ~~ So, ASC parked them outdoors during the day to put them "on show". Okay?
A young guy - very excited - comes by. He has husky coin (muchO $$$)
and he wants an ascMcLaren.....NOW NOW NOW NOW !!

Allright, now he wants a yellow one. Now, there is a problem. Of the cars parked out there, all but one would not be able to be painted Yellow, because their interiors were either Regatta Blue or Scarlet. But there was one car that was Royal Gold with Light Titanium Grey interior and a Black Roof.
The forman suggested he buy that car, and they'd repaint it in 1988s HOT YELLOW, as there was NO Yellow offered in 1989.
The young buyer agreed, and the car was taken inside and stripped and repainted HOT Yellow. The cost of so doing was "eaten" by ascMcLaren, as they wanted to move the car, as well as the others OUT

As I understood it, they painted & the young man took delivery. I never hooked up with him, as he never "found" me.

On my master listing, for 1989, there is but one car listed as Royal Gold with Light Titanium Interior & a black roof. ONE !
There is NO listing for a Yellow car in any color shade of yellow.
The VIN for that Royal Gold Car matches the VIN of your car !!

All I know. I do know that the buyer was not charged for the color change as they (asc) wanted to move them out.
1990s were shipped and they were expecting a lot full.
The other 7 cars were white with red interior or red with red interior or black with red interior or white with blue interior or silver with blue interior and blue with blue interior, and THE Royal Gold.
All I know...

The only other Special Paint Car was the 1975 Truimph British Racing Green 1989 that was made for a retiring Ford Dealer Principle, and wanted to purchase one for himself. I gather he sold these cars and they made his for him also without charge. Her interior is Sand Beige, her top is Tan.
That car is "alive & well"

Sandy, what about the Coupe options?

I think that all 86s were available with any option a 5.0L Capri would have, right?

85's are a toss up since there are some later ones that came with some options like power locks....but officially that can be argued they weren't supposed to be ordered that way.

1986 opened it up to any/all Fo Mo Co Mercury Capri RS 302-V8 Ford Factory-Installed Options.

1984s were all Dark Blue Metallic
1985 added Oxford White

I was told, but could never verify, that 1986s were not sold West of the Rockies. To date, I have found only 1 such example West of the Rockies, and THAT man is the person who told me that !
