But... did you know that convertibles with a 6 Cylinder HAD TO BE AUTOMATIC?
Convertibles with a V8 302 & 5 Speed manual were ordered from Ford as a RS, BUT convertibles ordered with a V-8 and Automatic were ordered as a GS It's true.
WHY? Because a R/S (5.0) was offered with 4-Speed Automatic OR with 5-Speed Stick, buyer's choice.
BUT While the Automatic was available with the V-8 on both models, the 5-Speed Manual WITH the V-8 was NOT allowed on the GS! The GS with V-8 had to be an Automatic. The Six Cylinder Converts were also ordered as GS models.
By ordering the Automatic with the V8 on a RS, saved the dealer money ( and the buyer) but, the dealer could NOT order a V8 with a 5-Speed on a GS, had to be a RS!
This is why the fog lights on a V8 Automatic are Hella. Ditto a 6 Cyl. with Automatic, also Hella, but the only 6 Cyl. with ground effects which would include Foggies in the front lower ascMcLaren air dam would have been the 1986 Spring Specials.
They used the foggies that came on the RS from Ford when car had Automatic ~ (Marchall) but when the GS arrived with no Foggies there were none to use, so ascMcLaren bought Hellas at a lower price.

Why do some Capri Converts have a rear driver-side Power Antenna and others have a black rubber whip-type antenna ?? Hmmmm?
Why do some Mustang McLarens (mostly 1987) have rear mounted black rubber "whip-type" antennas while the rest have the normal Ford front fender - Passenger side metal antenna??
