1986 Sage green Capri 5.0L

Post by negusm »

Sandy, per your numbers this is a 1 of 63 car.

http://vb.foureyedpride.com/showthread. ... post832433

63 as in ANY trim level not just a 5.0L Capri.

Too bad it's on the North Pole.

Very cool car, ugly pinstripes and all.

Yes, Sage Green! But, I would not overpay for it, because of it's rareness. Only IF she was a flawless museum piece AND Sage - then 'ya, whatever the seller wanted.

Hey David,

So what do you think about this one? You know my situation with Ma and my storage problem at the house. Do you have a dry corner inside somewhere that I can stash this one?

I just got out of that rental storage unit in Holly Springs last March. I flushed nearly $8000 in rent over a four year period. I don't want to park another one in the driveway and the Hertz is already in the backyard spot. And as with everything else I have no idea how long I would need to store it.

So finding an inside spot is the first thing I need to nail that down before I'll even call this guy. I already have that 86 T-top SVO stored over at Kendal's so I'm definitely out of space to park / store anything.

This would be a nice entrance into the world of Capris though. With a less than 100 or so built it meets my criteria for rare and worth owning.

Hi Ken hope your mom is doing good. I think that is a neat car i still want to see data tag and int and under hood photos but as long as it is a solid car i think it is the right one with the 5-speed fuel inj and color. I do question miles 65k? Wonder what doc he has there. I may could worksometing out and keep it for you under back deck at my house it would be under cover and parked on concrete.

That may be tough as I don't believe Maine has titles for cars over 15yrs old.
Title, if the vehicle is 15 years old or newer, signed over to new owner from the previous owner(s).

I've sent him an email requesting pics and info. Hopefully I will hear from him soon.

David,

If this does go through I'll need to get with you on the shipping. I have a carrier that I have used on my last three out of state purchases. I don't think I'll ever be completely comfortable with this whole internet / long distance buying process.

If you have any ideas I would be happy to hear them.

Applying the percentages of GS to RS of manufacture that year, 21 would be the # of RS Sage Green originally built !!!!!!!! ((Some have passed away)).

How many of those do you think with the 5 speed? (most?)

I was thinking this is probably a 1of 15 or 1 of 20 car based on color, trim and drivetrain.

I looked it up and it looks to be about 65% of the RS cars were 5 speeds.

So 65% of 21 = ~14.

I wonder what other options she has.

Well I asked him about 22 questions including if it has PW and / or PDL. As well as engine and interior pics from both sides and the hatch area. Also the door and core support tags.

This might be a good cheap piece if mind personnaly i have never done one before i bought a car sight unseen have had pretty decent luck on what seller said and what i got.

Here is a link to an independent inspector i found on ebay:
