Looks like a better car than the Mustang based cars that have been showing up lately on ebay. Is it weird that he references this forum in his description and doesn't put it in the classifieds. And never put it in the database.

One question. Why would an owner with this McLaren in the garage, open the door of their other car and repeatidly bang it into the McLaren ?
He states that it "has several door dings from being parked in the owner's garage".

Car looks good. I still have, however, a problem with odometers that have one or more numbers out of line with the others. I know this can and does happen when odo's are "picked" with a pick. I have 6 cars and all 6 cars odo reading are absolutely straight as in 23,112
no droopy numbers. I am gonna check my listing.... IF IF IF I find that I have this car, I'll post what I have.

I agree with both your points. The odo looks picked to me based on my experience as a youth working around a few used car dealers. I would never buy this car without seeing it in person.

Is the price of $750 for a new top as quoted in the ascmaclaren.com link the OEM top with correct stitching? I paid $300 labor for the last top I had installed.

Just rolling some numbers around in my head.

Car looks pretty clean to me.

About the odometer reading, that wasn't the greatest technology in the world that was used back in the late 80's. It is sooo dated compared to the cars out today. Mine isn't quite that bad, but occasionally my numbers don't line up just perfect. Now that doesn't mean someone didn't "pick" this one, but it isn't an automatic assumption either.

So, this guy must've gotten a great deal and is now trying to make a profit on it.........

Just don't see too many '89s & '90s up for sale..... And that red paint doesn't look faded one bit which is very common on red cars....

The car you are talking about is mine. I didnt post here is because i didnt think to many people looked here. I thought everyone looks on ebay. I would love someone here to take interest in my car and buy it. Then i would know its going to a good home. The reason im selling is i will not let such a rare low mile car sit outside since i have no inside place for it. I already pay for storage on two other cars and cant do more. The speedo conversation is interesting but since i know this car since 1990 and where it has sat unused makes me not question the way it looks. I bought it from an original female owner who told me the car was a 1988 untill she looked at her own title. See was not trying to get big money for it . I took interset in the car so some kid would not put some big tires on it and destroy it. If you have interest in the car pm me i would love to here from you.

IF the seller knew the car, at all (which he does NOT,) he would know that the car does NOT have a POWER SEAT, that he states it has! NO ascMcLaren ever was available with a 4 or 6 way power seat. It's obvious he is flipping it and knows very little about the car's true history. I would only buy it if I lived close and could inspect it myself.

Sandy i would love if you bought my car. It would get treated the way it should. Everyone i know just wants to drive it as an everyday driver. Thats just not right.

I know of a place for your car. It's 4 miles from me. I have 3 cars in there, now & I believe my landlord may have room for just one more.
I am in New Jersey, the Oranges, (South & West Orange. 2 miles from Seton hall Unuiversity.

It is:
Air Conditioned & Heated & dehumidified, it.s a 100 year old, all brick firehouse, with slate roof, with hard wired to police/fire with audible exterior alrm, It's semi hidden down a privatye driveway. You get a remote to power open entrance door, and "arrival car parking" for your daily driver. The interior is all concreate (cannot burn) and only car collectors are invited.
Sounds like $500 a month, right? Nope. It's $150 @ month. You have rights to enter whenever you wish. It's terrific. If you want it, I would have to speak to my landlord there, 'cause it's pretty full, but I think there is room for 1 left.
You would be put into the NOT GOING OUT section.
There are rules:
No smoking inside, no drinking inside, no working on cars, inside, and no "Parties," inside.
It's clean, neat, and veruy very very safe.

There are Mercedes, Rolls royce, Porsche, Cadillac, Lincoln and asc McLarens in there!

Sandy if the car does not meet reserve i may take you up on that. It still means i am paying but winter is on the way and i cant leave it outside. The reason i put power seat in the add was it has power lumbar ebay only has a box to check off for power not what type.

I would need a WEEK TO MAKE CONTACT WITH MY LANDLORD
then I'll let you know what I can talk him into. It would HAVE to GO into the "Not going out" section, as the "I might wanna take mine out, at sometime over the winter" is now FULL.
If that is okay with you, I'll talk to him, in your behalf & let you know.
If all is okay, mapquest Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey and I would meet you there, and you could follow me the 2 miles from there to the "Car Condo". But, you need to have somebody follow you to take you home.
I can't drive that far while I am still undergoing my Cancer treatments.
I am sure you can understand that. The place is like Fort Knox. Yopu will be impressed.

I have no pics. IF I took a picture, all you's see is a sigle car wide dark brown garage door, at the end of a long driveway (paved), about 8 cars long, in length.
The only other side is the right side and it'a s looooong grey concrete windowless 1 story building.

Inside the "I might wanna take my car out at sometime over the winter GROUP are all wearing car covers, so, you cannot see what's under them. Two are tan covers & 4 are bluish-grey covers. All 6 are angled like ths: / / / / / /

Towards the back are the "I am NOT taking this car out, until April" group

Those cars are packed in, tighter and are mostly all covered.

They are parked like this:

the Red '89 McvLaren, seems to need a home.
It's only $150 @ month, and it's at 73 degrees
and dehumidified all year, too. No leaks. Safe.
Mostly hidden from view.

Sandy,

I think RARE ASC wants to see more pictures of the car that's for sale. I'd like to see a few more pics of that car too. Maybe some up close shots of the door dings and scratch that need to be fixed.
