i have an 84 asc mclaren for sale. it is in good shape for its age. it has 55k miles on it, and is all original. 5.0 fuel injected, auto. it runs and shifts smooth. seats are not ripped or torn, everything works. no rust anywhere. it is one of 50 made in 84 and this one has a 1 of a kind story, the only green one. it is easier to give a better description over the phone so just give me a call at 573-291-6936 or email.

It appears to be the 1 of 1 done in British Racing Green - Not too far from me, may be worth a look.

I DO BELIEVE THAT IS THE CAR, that I have spoken about. The OTHER various Green ones were repainted!! I believe thast THIS IS the BEAST. Gold Rims, Tan Interior / Tan roof. & gold plaastic gold stripe in the recess in the moulding and front/back bumper facia indrentation[

I thought the Mustang/Capri -Fox chassis platform started fuel injection in 86?
I could be wrong though.

Real fuel injection (EFI or multi port fuel injection) started in 86 yes...earlier automatic cars had crappy CFI - more like a throttle body fuel injection...looked like a carb. Ran like junk & un-modify-able. lol

Ford started fuel injection in 1983 which was called CFI which replaced most carbs on V-8's. 84-85 Mustangs and Capris had CFI on the 5.0 liters that had automatics. Cars that had a manual 4 speed or 5 speed had a Holly 4bb. Starting in 1986 Mustangs and Capris with automatics or 5-Speeds came equipment with Sequential multi-port electronic fuel injection
a control box that was located in the lower kick panel on the passenger side.
This was one of Ford better ideas!

I am not sure when or who, but I remember being told a long time ago that these CFIs could easily be converted by mounting a 2 barrel carb on the manifold with hardly any modifications other than unplugging some wires.
Do any of you more mechanically inclined fellas on here know if that is true?

In theory it would work, but I doubt the 4 barrel would physically fit on the CFI intake. But swapping the intake would be easy. Just like you can buy a retrofit kit to put a injection system on your 4 barrel intake.

I won't be able to look it up now, but it's possible that most of the info may have been recorded then.

Additionally, the CFI cars have an electric fuel pump and a fuel return line going back to the gas tank, which carb'd cars don't have. What I don't know is if those can simply be by-passed in an FI to carb conversion.
