Has the first production 84 car surfaced over the years?

OK, so no one is interested in the first production car? 84 #1!!!

It's for sale. A little rough. A local used car dealer flipping it. Not sure if he knows what he has. Not very helpful with trying to sell it either. Photos are in the Album.

It cannot be ~ because the 1st fifty were Muscat Red. Camel Interior & Tan roof, with the gold wheels.
1985 introduced Raven Black and "ASC White"; the black with the Camel Interiors and the White with the Blue or Camel interiors. Tan top with Camel interior & Dark Blue top with Blue interior.

1986 added Silver Metallic. and Dk. Atlantic Blue (NAVY).

Red only 84s? Ok, Sandy must be on his meds today. Experts are allowed to have off days.

There is a plaque on the dash just like the other 84s. It says 1 of 50. They probably did not order more than 10 cars at a time for conversion during the first year. We know the VIN for #13 so it would likely be lower than that one. Still working on the VIN as I for got to write it down when I looked at it.

I was surprised as well to find it in CA which is why I checked for the smog label. Sure it could have been changed but the DMV history has it within the area since 1997. It probably had the same owner since 84 thru 2000. The last owner was a collector (not a restorer) which is why it was never fixed up in the rough areas.

For cars that, 1 had to travel a great distance, and 2 rumored to be less distributed for whatever reason, there are quite a few which came to CA when new. Either they had a connection to the factory out here or they got marketed enough for people to order them. No dealer sticker on this one but my 85 has one from San Francisco.

The car looked fairly good. It probably had a pretty decent paint job 10 years ago. There is some big chips flaking along the body strip (blue) and the door jams were never painted. Under the hood was not alarmingly dirty and probaly fairly clean by east coast standards. I did not see any rust and I would not expect to see any unless the paint had burned off totally in the sun. I did not look in the trunk as the battery was dead and the release cable was not working. The dash pad was pretty far gone but could have been much worse. There was a crack in the lower dash. The wood dash was painted black. The door panels were decent to good shape. I don't think that car saw 20 years of sun damage.

I was going to buy the car and had the ok from the wife. I just don't need another project and found something else.
