Well, I just had to break something . . .

I decided to take the '86 to a car show this weekend, and while moving it around my storage area, misjudged a curb and tore off the air dam. Pardon the pun, but damn.

It was interesting to see how the air dam was originally slapped on top of the existing bumper cover, as opposed replacing the stock unit.

Anyway, I need to figure how much it will cost to replace, determine whether to replace it, blah blah blah. Aside from Henry, does anyone know of a place to find a new unit?

How bad was the old one mangled?

You might be able to save it. I'm not a big fan of the old air dams that are very brittle but if it's just the air dam you need put back on, it might be repairable with some work.

Other than that, Henry has repros that are made from a very strong, easily repairable material. No one else will have one unless you get lucky and someone is abandoning a project.

It is in three or four pieces (brittle indeed - the impact was minimal), so repair does not appear to be an option. Arggh.

Honestly any original ground effects still out there are very much on borrowed time.

Now that you have the cut-away version of the air dam, get some pics of how the original bumper cover is cut and how the air dam is mounted.

Man that sucks...sorry to hear...

The new one from Hank comes with the side pieces but if you happen to need just them I have a decent set...

One is slightly cracked but easily fixable

Mike,

if Robert dosnt want/need them what would you want for them? I'm pretty sure I short those for mine 86 ASC. It's still in the collecting phase.

Thanks for the offer. It looks like I will not need those, so plumkrazy, they are all yours.

I did the same to my front end. Instead of buying new I repaired it along with the cracked side and rear pieces, so far they have held up well.

I have pics of the process here.
