Been a while. Has anybody heard from, or have info on Sandy? He's hdd a very rough go and I wish there was something we could do to alleviate his struggles. The man is a dynamo of courage.

I just got off the phone with Sandy's wife Karen and she's allowed me to post an update.

Sandy is under hospice care at home. It sounds like he won't be taking any phone calls. She's been in touch with Mike Negus as well and maybe he can add to this. I've known Sandy since 1988 and even though I sold my McL in 1995 we remained friends. I've missed the old Sandy for quite some time and I'm going to miss Sandy for a very long time.

I sent an email yesterday asking if he can take a call.

It went to Sandy's account (cigarsandy), I think she is watching it.

I don't have any more information.

Oh no. That doesn't sound good.

Hopefully somehow he'll surprise us all and show up here with another tale of his perseverance in getting thru another tough time.

Sandy has a vast amount of McClaren knowledge in his head. He would always chime in with 2 pages worth of words for a simple question... He will chime in again.
My prayers are with you Sandy...

He has fought a long, and very hard battle. Many of us would have given up long ago. Sandy hasn't yet, but when you see the word, 'Hospice' it's just a matter of time. God Bless Hospice, His last days will be comfortable and his pain will be gone. Forever. Wish I was closer. We could have on helluva funeral procession!

I know, thats pretty much what that means. :(

It's unfortunate that we couldn't manage to get a large gathering of us to meet somewhere with all of our cars, he would've been thrilled to see a dozen or more ASCs all together. (And I would've been thrilled to meet Sandy to put a face with the voice I've heard over the phone). He would've been going over all of our cars with a fine tooth comb looking for variations in production - :) I and others brought up getting together a few times but Sandy wasn't able due to his health, and it was difficult for everyone else to drive to New Jersey.

Would've been awesome to see like 25 or more ASCs all together.

I have never met him in person but I have traded e-mails and post on the board. I consider him a friend and am proud to know him. Best wishes to him and his family.

I am speechless... I had grown so close to sandy over the years. I once told him he was like a father to me. For the longest time I was the youngest member on here or the yahoo groups. I have been talking to sandy on the phone or through emails since September 2003. I feel so bad for his son matthew and wife Karen. I know I will miss him so much and all of his knowledge and not just of ASC cars but on life too. I have said many mi sheberach prayers for you my friend and mentor. Sending love to sandy and his family from his friend in Detroit.

I just got a call from Karen, I'm extremely sorry to have to report of Sandy's passing.

I never thought I'd have to do this. He's been a great friend to me and I'll never forget the conversations we've had over the years. God Bless Sandy and provide your comfort to Karen and Matthew.
