Outside door/window molding 1988

Post by survivor »

This question may have been discussed previously but i could not find any info on it. My 88 convertible outside door molding is the original part and has been weathered. When searching for this part, is this molding considered a part for a coupe or convertible door ? Is it Mclaren specific ? I removed the passenger side while troubleshooting an intermittent pwr window issue. It peels right off the thin metal channel with no other mounting attachments. Thanks to all in advance. Frank

Door molding

The trim at the top of the door is often referred to as the dew wipe. The Mustang convertible uses a different style. The one used on the 88 ASC looks to the be the same as used on the hatchback. The rubber piece snaps off the metal part so you can reused yours.

A reproduction part is available but the metal part is a bit thin and get bent in shipping. Reuse you metal piece. I had to dill a hole in the rubber part on my 85 at the rear for the ASC trim screw.
