84 Roadster on eBay

Post by 86MclarenCapri »

BEAUTIFUL CAR!!

What a difference it makes between the inside and outside pictures!

84 Roadster on eBay

But, there are a few modifications that I'm wondering about.

I thought the ASC ground kit wasn't offered until 85 or 86, so it has been added? Was the decklid spoiler available on the Capri's?

The rear valance doesn't look right, it looks like it doesn't come up to the back of the wheel wells far enough. The cut-outs have been enlarged to take the dual exhaust tips.

Everything is painted red-- are the headlight buckets and all of the grill supposed to be painted to match the car? the 5.0 SC logo in the grill is obviously painted.

Also, the 'fins' on the tail lights are painted red. I'm not sure I like that, but it is different.

The tonneau doesn't fit well, that is a bummer.

There are several plastic push-in clips holding the tonneau cover to the tonneau. I have several clips like that, but I thought it was just glued down. Are the clips correct??

Deck lid fits poorly also. $15k and NO Carfax!

Carfax started in 1984 and there wasn't a lot of info available. Even today, not all garages and body shops participate.

Carfax is available for '85s I believe (and certainly not infallible). The car looks as if is was heavily hit in the rear and poorly repaired.

Well, I'll see it Saturday when the Shelby Club stops at Gateway-Dearborn for National Mustang Day. Happy to take more pics.

No mention that it has 85/86 molding and front and rear bumper covers, with a 79-84 turn signal molding on LF and RF and a 3rd brake light 1986 only. Notice wear on brake pedal :^o

Plum Crazy. Glad you can help so much. I didn't really look closely. I'd be glad to have you critique mine before I put it on Ebay!!

Not really sure how to take that? I was just pointing out some observations. My 86 brake pedal with 99k and a manual has less wear. And I bought new in High School. Its a lot of time and money went into that car and would be hard to do for 15K

The side mouldings give it away.

It is an 84 that the outside has been almost completely updated to an 85.

None of the rub mouldings should have the 2 pencil thin grooves in them and you can see that the one marker reflector moulding has the 84 profile.

I am guessing that the car needed a fair amount of body work and they went with an 85/86 update on the outside.

But for 84, no ground effects like that came on the cars that I know of.

I just watched the video that's on the ebay listing.
Did anyone else notice that it burns oil?

Oil Burner

Post by capri50asc »

Yes, It does burn oil , I would say its 167,000 miles on it and the valve guides are gone. But what do you want for a re manufactured car, its been pieced together . Also note is the passenger door does not match and the deck lid. Looks like a checker broad

Its a $4500-$5,000 car
