Hello everyone,
A friend replaced the manual pulse generator on his engraving machine (https://www.oyostepper.com/category-228 ... rator.html). After installation, the X-axis movement is inaccurate. Measuring the waveforms of phases A and B with an oscilloscope, I found that a few pulses were occasionally missing from phase B during forward rotation.
Tracing the internal wiring of the handwheel, I found that the solder joints at the encoder output port were loose, intermittently connected. After much troubleshooting, I resoldered them and the problem was solved.
For this kind of pulse loss, is it usually faster to check backwards from the drive end, or is it more common to suspect a dirty encoder grating disk?
Are there any similar troubleshooting procedures you would recommend? Thanks in advance.
