Update on Project - 1987- #250

Post by 351mclaren »

Sandy,

I know you are a purest, but I could not help myself. I needed horsepower and handles.

351 windsor w/ smog legal 185 afr's (Wes King Ported)
(forged pistons, moly rings)
High Tork Mini Starter
30lb injectors w/ kirban regulator
Mark VIII 18" Electric Fan
Stock Replacement HD Aluminum Radiator
Ford Racing Waterpump
ford racing 1.6 roller rockers
compucam 2020
ford racing conversion headers
Lightning 351 Lower
1994-95 Custom Upper Cobra Manifold
Custom 93 Convertible Motor Mounts (.67 inch drop)
Bassani x wth cats
Mac Catback
Flaming River Steering Shaft
Grigg's Bump Steer Kit
Steeda x2 Ball Joints
2000 GT Spindles with Plain PBR 13" crossdrilled slotted rotors
1998 GT Rear End Disc with 3:73's (functioning E-brake)
Upper and Lower HD Control Arms
1999 Cobra wheels(17 x 8 - 245 / 45 / 17 soon to have ASC Mclaren Stickers on them, no rubbing)
Koni Red Shocks and struts

It is under the factory hood. The only other addition I am going to add to the outside is a SVO style hood from Cervini and the 88-89 style rear bumper.

I do have one question for the group....Is any one using a maximum motorsports 4 point g-load brace, and if so, which one fits??? The convertible one or the notch back one?

I believe it's the 1989-1990 rear bumper cover you seek. 1987 & 1988 are the same and the 1989 & 1990 are the same but different than 1987 & 1988.

1) Pics!!!!!!

2) As for the brace, I believe the later cars used a Mustang Convertible floor pan, and thus I would think the convertible style braces would fit.

3) Pics!!!!!

ALL Mustang McLarens used the convertible floor pan and convertible cut carpeting and under carpet pad as supplied from Ford ON THE ASSEMBLY LINE !!

I thought the early cars used some sort of brace down the center of the car instead of the convertible pan? Or did asc just add extra bracing?

Yes, you are describing the Capri converts, and I was referring to the Mustangs. Capri did not make a 'Vert so there was no reinforced 'Vert chassis to use. Thusly the "T" steel bar down the center.
