No offense, and I'm NOT a tatoo guy anyway, so bear with me, but WHY would you tatoo yourself with THAT tatoo?
Cars come and go, especially at your age. I'd be willing to bet you the farm that you'll be driving something else in 2 years, (like a used Chevy Camaro Z28, or some Nissan or Toyota rice burner) and the McLaren will be a distant memory. I hope I'm wrong, but "experience" weighs heavily at MY age. I just hope you don't look at that tat in 10 years and ask yourself "WHY DID I DO THAT?" Sorry for the rant.
I'm in the Air Force right now, stationed in Kirkuk, Iraq. It's good to hear that there are still young people out there considering the military for all it offers. Good luck to you!!

"Currently in Iraq, until Feb. '08" ~ Where will you be after Feb? I hope coming back to the USA !
I'd be scared to death to be over there. No Thanks! I'd rarther walk thru Central Park, in NYC at 2AM with $1,000 dollars in my wallet and a shiny gold watch on my wrist.
Be careful and get back safe !!

well thats the thing the car is DIFFERENT. i bought it when i was 15 and learned more and more about it, im a huge ford guy so it grew on me. since i have had about 8 other cars, 2 fun little ricers, an optioned out GP, a truck, a fire bird none really got to me like this car
even if i were to sell it or it get destroyed by some dumb blonde girl doing her hair in her car . this car CHANGED MY LIFE thats why i got the tat. well no one on here really knows me but short story i come from trailer parks and a crack head drug running family haha but this car was my way out. from the first ride when i was 14 i was hooked. it then made me tons of friends in high school got me in the "underground" racing, gave me something to do to get away from the family. it was so fun etc.. it got me into cars to where now im going to college for high performance cars like peter, which made me realize i like power and pointed me toward the air force where i hope to be working with more powerfull vehicles..but the kind that fly!! lol
but i see what you mean.. really though bottom line it changed my life completly and i would be in the direction i am if it were not for this car honestly.. that and its rare. lots of people have a cobra on the back or leg or arm. and DONT EVEN OWN ONE!! lol i doubt ill have a 65 shelby cobra like i really want. but ill just have to take my own piece of history in the form of a ascMcLaren
btw how do you like the usaf??? im supposed to be in the electricial field . how old are you? how hard is boot? i got tons of questions ha

oh and my ex. paid for it. i always wanted one and what else would i get? my last name? no dumb.. a butterfly on my foot? lol no.. i guess this is the only thing that is "ME" if the USAF works out ill get one of those too. . like everyone else
and how many people have an ascMcLaren tat??? NO ONE!!! ONLY ME OUT OF BILLIONS IN THE WORLD!!
*evil laugh*

Ok, you convinced me with that story. If a car helped you escape a life of crime and poor prospects, and you want to honor that with a tat, more power to you, and I congratulate you!Shaine wrote:well thats the thing the car is DIFFERENT. i bought it when i was 15 and learned more and more about it, im a huge ford guy so it grew on me. since i have had about 8 other cars, 2 fun little ricers, an optioned out GP, a truck, a fire bird none really got to me like this car

As far as boot camp questions, and all of that, I'm an old timer, so my experiences are probably quite a bit different than what you're about to go through. I originally joined the Navy in 1987, did 12 years as an electronics technician on submarines, then got out, and did 4 years in the Navy reserve, and am now in the Air Force reserve, so I'm sure it's quite a bit different now than it was then. As was noticed in a previous post, I am in northern Iraq (Kirkuk) now, and have been here since Aug. Leave in late Feb and go back to my civilian life as an insurance claims adjuster.
I again commend you on your decision to join the military, especially in this day and age. You will probably eventually go to Iraq or Afghanistan, but as an Airman in the Air Force, the bases over here aren't bad and well protected. We still get the occasional 123mm rockets and 54mm mortars fired at us from OUTSIDE the wire, and they occasionally land where we don't want them to, but that's part of the deal. Take care, and here's wishing you luck! If you have any other specific questions, PM me and I'd be happy to answer them for you.

Back to Kansas City, MO. to my wife and 2 teenage children, and my civilian life again! 20 days and a wake up!! I hope to find a McLaren a little later this spring. Still looking, but it's obviously hard to get too serious right now being over here. Not too many McLarens driving around here in Kirkuk. LOL!!!Sandy wrote:"Currently in Iraq, until Feb. the asc mclaren addiction
i dont know guys....lol. i'm 34 and got the first mustang to work on thanks to mom and big brother back in the summer of 1988. It was a 1979 coup v8 with the crappy variable ventury carb....with all of its plastic parts..., charcoal grey w black interior and with silver asc (msw's) mclaren wheels off my brothers 1988 asc. I fell hard....I have owned a few since that time and its been a twenty year time period and te ASC is still my favorite car, I haven't lost a bit of interest even with the lack of respect or acknowledgement we get....I think the tatoo is nice, even without the story a tatoo is self expression...i know a few guys with boties on their arm and a few others that frequent Sacramento Raceway that have Cobra's on them....

Shaine, I have a photo of a very beautiful '88 McLaren in black on black with grey interior parked on a hilltop in Swissterland with a goat standing nearby.
I have located (all) 3 in England, and have a fuzzy pic of one in Paris France along side the Eifel Tower. Azura Blue, Drk. Blue top
I have a pic of one in Tel Aviv Israel. Navy, Navy top Blue interior
In Holland parked curbside on a cobblestone street. Paris Blue.
