The other interesting thing is on the buck tag it has above "mclaren coupe"
the code(s) D20 42 2049 - I can't recall ever seeing it before- any ideas?

btw- he doesn't know what # it is (plaque missing)

I have nothing nice to say. A POS ? Goes without saying.

Whom ever did this, to this car. raped it, beat it, smacked it, tortured it, abandoned it should be sentenced to spend the reast of his/her life owning and driving nothing but Toyota Yaris or similar, without any options and custom painted by Earl Schieb in bright Chartreuse and the seats need to be re-covered in white leather, so that they can see what pigs they are.

for getting the VIN !!

I researched it. It **IS** a real one, however, it's 1 of the 47 EuroCoupes, actually # 39 of the 47.

The Hatch is from a Mustang, likewise the spoiler, and is of course in error in this application. The wheels are also incorrect, being Mustang GT / Capri RS wheels. The "missing headlight covers & taillamp covers are really NOT missing....it's a EuroCoupe. It's had a very hard life. It was not loved. It was Beat On.

BTW, it's NOT missing its Dash Plaque # as a EuroCoupe, it never received one. 95% of the Euros came AFTER the last 1986 Full Packaged examples were completed.

Back in the day, if you asked an ascMcLaren employee what was going on, you got 1 of 2 stories.

Story #1 = They were trying to fill dealer's requests for a lower priced version of the ASC/McLAREN Coupe.

Story #2 = They were getting rid of abundance of left over parts.

Probably a little bit of both.

No, not with that ascMcLaren metal tag underhood, it was built in Michigan by ascMcLaren.
The side stripes were added by someone, after the fact. She would have had the orange mesh wheels and a "asscMcLaren" decal on the right side of the original hatch and another on the hood, on the driver side of the "hump". Her seats would have been the original Capri RS WITH the RED piping. She would have had the front lower air dam that ascMcLaren used as well the rear under bumper defusser with tailpipe cut-outs. She'd have ther rear hatch ascMcLaren spoiler, and the front foggies. Her rear quarter window would not have had the tinted dark plexiglass panel over the OEM glass, but the 3 (oris it 4?) small triangular "Vent Plugs" tinted dark would be on there.
Whistler Radar was available..if so ordered. Her Stereo woulda been Ford's Premium with Cassette, using the FoMoCo speakers. The lion's share of EuroCoupes were indeed BLACK ! A few were the color of my full package car, the "Smoke Metallic" {dark grey metallic} with Orange decal logos.
