Apple Valley, MN Car show

Post by Paul C. »

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to let anybody in the area know that there is an all Ford car show at Apple Valley Ford, in Minnesota. The date for the show is June 3rd. We'll have our 1984 vert. #26 there, along with an 84 "20th aniversary Mustang, and a 79 Mustang pace car. The rest of the cars have to stay home. :)

We've been doing some restoration on #26. Just got a new tonneau and some emblems, from Hank. We buffed out the paint, waxed it, and did some serious cleaning in the engine area and interior. I think somebody used to have a small dog or cat in the car. Our goal is a full original restoration, but this will take some time. We are replacing the shocks, struts, and axle dampeners. The originals were motorcraft, just like the 84 mustang. Also found that the steering wheel is the same wheel used in 84 mustangs, that did not have the cruise control on the wheel.

:?: Big question!! Is anyone aware of an engine change on 1984 vert. #26, we found some paperwork that suggested a possible engine swap??

That I know of, there are at least two other Mclarens in the immediate area, one is Tom down in Farmington. Hope to see you at Apple Valley.

Take care
Paul

 It's that time again. The Apple Valley All-Ford show is Sunday, June 1st. We'll have #26 at the show again. We also found out last year that #25, which is also red with a tan interior, is sitting in a garage in Bloomington, MN. Maybe, someday, Tom will bring his car to the show.

Take care

I originally "found" #25 when it was in Sioux Falls, SD. I was there for work and spotted it at a veterinarian clinic. I assumed it belonged to the vet but as it turned out it belonged to very cute high school senior girl, hey I was just past 21 8) She invited me over to her house to get a closer look at the car and the literature she and her father had collected.

Check out my sweet El Camino winter beater in the background.

I have seen #25 since it arrived in the Twin Cities and it was looking pretty good.

I wasn't able to make the show this year but I heard there was a great turn-out.

Btw Paul, My Mc is long gone. Judging by the last time I saw it I wouldn't doubt it's been junked by now.

Oh, just hanging in there ya know. Looking at getting another motorcycle. This time I'm twirling thoughts around in my head about a nice Ducati I spotted at the Kawasaki dealer.

The Ducati(s) have a very respected reputation, at least here in Jersey.
Nice looking too.

Take a look at my Ducati. There is a pic in my album here. It's a 2000 Ducati Monster 900sie totally customized with tons of brushed aluminum and carbon fiber. Has less then 2k miles on the bike. Have many extra's for it too. There is close to over $20k in this bike and it is an amazing peice of eye candy. The local Ducati dealer I had her shipped too when I bought her was so impressed he had one built very similar to it. I like the polished aluminum look better then the chrome or chromo edition they had out around that time. I will be selling her hopefully locally and entertaining trades for Mustangs of equal value or cash differences either way. No rush to sell, my neck injury is the only thing preventing me from riding and it doesn't take up much space. I am also very understanding of depreciation and realistic of what the actual value maybe. Questions or comments welcome.

Nick :)

Thanks for the heads up on the Monsters but I'm leaning towards a Sport Touring bike. The one I'm looking at is an ST4s.

I need something to replace the McLaren Buell I had for awhile. :?

Tom,

I went from my first bike to learn on a Honda Shadow 600 to the Monster 900sie figuring I would have something in between a cruiser and a sport bike. If I was still able to ride today I would definately keep the Monster and then add on a real cruiser and a sports bike if it was financially feasible of course but hey what are goals for?

So are you without a McLaren atm? If so are you considering to get another someday? I always hear from people how they wish they would have kept their cars. The money we can get for our cars even in the future can never replace the memories and experiences we have with our toys. :celebrate:
