Good Evening all- looking for an ASC for sale

Post by nick87 »

Just joined a very special forum here. Only a small handful of people on earth truly appreciate such a unique car like a McLaren and its great to be here. I had a lot of fond memories with my old asc but the wife forced me to sell it when we had our first child. 12 years later, I'm looking to buy a McLaren fixer upper starting from 87 and up. Any info would be appreciated.

Regards, Nick

Welcome,

Go over to Henry's site. He's got quite a few McLaren's listed for sale. Mine is up there (1988 Triple Blue 5-Speed, 17K miles). I'm not looking to sell per se, but if the right buyer came along for the right price....

However, while my car is not yet completely up to show standards (still need to detail the engine compartment, refinish the rims and really buff the paint), I think it's a little beyond the fixer-upper stage.

I know on The Corral there is a guy selling a silver McLaren w/o a drivetrain. It can be had cheap, and the body/interior don't look too bad from the pictures (although it has a 4-point roll bar installed).

Anyway, good luck.

Thanks for your help

Thanks for all your response. I couldn't believe asc headquarters was right under my nose here in fl all this time. I contacted him and im trying to negotiate a price on one. I am also keeping this a covert operation from my wife. If i bag this asc, i promise i will post a video of her reaction when i bring it in the driveway. a classic moment it will be.

Again, thanks to all you friendly folks here at ascmclaren

Maybe you will be lucky and she will love it. I initiated the first McLaren purchase. I really love that car. :bouncehappy: And then the other half was not satisfied untill #2 showed up.

Or it could go in another direction :smash:

Wives !!

Post by Kentennis »

I acquired a 1986 Convert. in Muscat Red, with all the options. The wife likes it. She refuses to drive any of my 'collectible' toys. She doesn't like the 80 Corvette. And she positively hates the 65 Thunderbird. But the McLaren? She asked me if we were taking to an Air Force reunion in Willamsburg, Va. next week. She seemed disappointed when I told her no. Don't want to put the miles on the car. It has under 20,000 on it now and is in fantatstic condition.

1987 McLaren possibly for sale

Post by DADS55 »

I have a 1987 McLaren #58, and I am thinking of selling it, it is a fixer-upper. It had an engine fire, so the engine, and harness are gone, the interior, and exterior are in good shape. I am just toying with the idea of selling it.

I must say the McLarens get a helluva lot of attention at car shows. Been to 10. 6 trophies, 1 show winner 'T'Shirt and a speeding ticket.
