Should buy this 1988 mustang mclaren in this cond. for 3500?

hey all i need help deciding if i should pay 3500 on a asc mclaren mustang 1988 #1045

70-80k miles

engine sounds strong

starts up first time

it is atlantic blue has gold mclaren wheels beige top beige interior

3 rust spots about 1-2 inches each on the body
paint is peeling on the bumper about 2-3 inches wide 3-4 inches high
top is in bad shape it has duct tape all over it
rip on the wheel about an inch long
rip on the drivers seat 4 inches long
interior needs alot of cleaning it just seems dusty and a few dirt spots on the carpet
the leather on the seats are dirty
one wheel has missing center piece
Tonneau Appliqué i think needs to be rewired or needs new fuse to work
horn is disconnected


is it worth it for 3500? or should i find another asc to restore for much cheaper?










NOTE; they dont show imperfections in pictures but ive checked this out on the lot ive explained it as much as i possibly can

That is a good deal for $3500 - Just check the Transmission & Electrical - Also check around and under the rear package tray as well as the convertible top stow bay.

Other than paint and heavy interior/engine bay clean up, looks solid.

Also note that the wheels on it are incorrect for that years as well.

looks like 88 wheels to me too.

sounds like a good car. make sure you have an idea of how much the parts you need are going to cost. have you been to ascmclaren.com to look at the cost of new parts?

I agree that it looks right for the money. Try to get the seller to discount it some more, and then go for it.

thanks for the opinions everyone the pics actually do not do the car any justice the car is in worse shape than how it looks in the pics. it seems to me that the car had just got a good exterior detail wash. it is ready for restoration but i really want an asc to mod i am currently bidding on another asc mustang on ebay and waiting to see if i can get it for 1000 if not this will be the one i will aim for. i will keep it stock since it is in the condition to be restored to stock. the other mustang is good to be moded in my eyes since it is salvaged with high mileage for an asc mustang. Nice car. The interior doesn't look too bad. And the wheels look correct to me also. Doesn't sound to me like it needs Big $$$ stuff to fix/make it right.

Great color combination too. Keep that in mind. Atlantic Blues don't come up for sale very often. Is decently rare too, depends on the color of the roof. Roof replacement will cost +/- $1000 parts/labor.

1 of 1 if it has the black roof
1 of 11 if it has the tan roof
1 of 21 if it has the blue roof

Oh, big pluses are that it has the tail light covers and all the ground effects are in place. (so many that show up for sale are missing this stuff).
