Ok guys, sorry I have not been back to post sooner. I had a hell week at work and haven't been at home or on the web very much. As you guys have deduced, after 3 years of talking back and forth I finally bought hippy's coupe. He was ready to move on with something new and I was finally ready to commit. Hippy is a great guy and I am very pleased with the car so far. It needs some TLC and cleaning under the hood and inside, but it's all there. I'll work on getting her inspected and registered this week. Hopefully I'll have some time.

No belt moldings. Hippy decided not to put them back on. He didn't think it needed them, but I'm still deciding. I'd really like to have them on there for the originality factor, but I'm sure finding a nice set will be very difficult. If anyone has some or has suggestions on where to buy them, let me know.tfs2121 wrote:sweet. i hope u got the door belt moldings too!
good luck!!!
Hippy made the trip.plumkrazy wrote:Well? Did I lie, IS it as nice as I had said?. I hope you Enjoy her I really wanted her but I just could not see her on my dirt road.![]()
Did Hippy make the trip?
And If you decide to sell Please double please LMK
Yes, I'm very pleased with the car. Like I said, a little TLC and she'll be show ready. Now I just need to get with 75coug so we can take what I would assume are the only two ASC Capris in Collin County Texas out for a cruise and photo shoot.

Door belt mouldings? AKA the outer dew wipes?
FMR sells them. You take the original metla trim and re-use it. Just snap in the repro rubber and you can feel you are nearly original. The new rubber is 100% identical to the old.
OR
Ask FMR if he has any NOS ones. They are going to run you $150 per door I think.
OR
Ask on FEP for good used ones. Some of the guys in Cali tend to get nice outer belt mouldings from cars. But if your are passible...those may only be marginably better.

Get it done then man. We've got cruising in "ASC style" to do. Let me know when you want to meet up. Isn't there a small car "show" every Saturday in Mckinney at Virginia and 75?75coug wrote:Congrats on the fine acquisition. I am looking forward to seeing it.
There can be no photo ops with my car, though, until I get the new top installed and a paintjob.
Thank You86capriasc wrote:Nice collection you have there!
No, we're referring to the molding (trim) that runs down the side of the car. Hippy left it off when the car was painted. Hard to tell on a black car though. It really doesnt bother me, but it is supposed to be there so I'd like to have it.negusm wrote:Door belt mouldings? AKA the outer dew wipes?
sure looks like a belt that goes around the car to me.negusm wrote:ahhh...yeah I didn't even notice.
Those are not belt mouldings. They are body side mouldings, aka rub strips.

i thought hippy said he had NOS moldings. or atleast a shrunk set that some one re did. it does look good with or without them. it took 2 car shows before i saw he was missing them.

No, if you say "belt moulding" the books will tell you it is the "dew wipes".
Contact FMR, they restore these mouldings back to NOS condition without using paint.
You need good, unscratched cores to give them though. They will remove all blems, put on new metal and straighten them out.
