1987 Cougar XR7 ASC Mclaren? Am I "IGNANT" of these?


1987 Mercury Cougar XR7 for sale 4000obo or willing to trade. new motor and new transmission!!!! 144700 miles new cd player comes with subs for the right price!!! leather inside that is a 98% out of a 100%. one rip in the diver seat normal wear-in tear. One of a kind front seats that recline like a recliner!!! key-less entry! a/c blows out ice cold!!! Moonroof DONT LEAK!!!!! really a mint car!!! Have all documents on car since it came off the line at ford!!!!!!!

Wow. nice car. Haven't seen one in years. I took this exact car to a prom. That car was awesome. same color and everthing.......

But, yea, no........... not an ASC.....

NO. I can't recall the name of the company, but I'd know it - if I heard it, but...No, asc/McLaren had zero to do with it.

I think I can shed some light on the owners misconception: I bet the moonroof says ASC thereby making said cougar a "limited edition Mclaren"

I worked at Wixom Assembly in the summer of '89 All the Lincolns that had moonroofs used units from ASC.

Does that make them McLaren's too? :wink:

it could be a Cougar GST basically a XR7 with full ground effects
and a wing.Kinda similar to a Euro Coupe in theory.

I had one. It was sitting in front of my girlfriends parents house, and it was hit! :cry: It was winter. The lady who lived up the road needed cigarettes. She didn't feel like scraping her windshield what with the gas station was right down the road. She was driving with her head out the window. I guess she didn't see my car because she didn't even touch the breaks when she plowed into my car!

Sigh, I miss that car.
I wish blue jeans, old cars, and boots would go out of style.
