Question: 20" Wheels

Post by Rainmanoly »

Anybody ever put 20" wheels on the Mustang Verts? Will they fit? What is the largest size that will fit?
I wish blue jeans, old cars, and boots would go out of style.

I understand, but my car's original wheels are long gone. Thunderbird wheels are on it now. I don't really like them.

So, I found these 20s, cheap. I beleive they would be a big improvement over gold T-bird wheels on a yellow vert. I just can't afford $1,300 plus shiping on new wheels from Hank.

PS
No Cobra Rs! :P

I might be interested in those wheels. What condition are the tires in? Any idea on shipping cost to 45140? How much do you want for them?

If it were me, and I didn't want to shell out the big beans for a set of asc directionals, I think I would go with one of two wheels.

Either 17 inch "Pony" replicas:

or 17 inch "93 Cobra" replicas :

http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/item/LRS-1007RSR

Either can be had for around $500 a set new from LateModelRestoration.com

And please, please, please don't put 20" wheels on my old car...

I put 17 inch cobra r replicas from OE Wheels in Florida on my 88. 17x8 on the front and 17x9 on the rear. They look great and no issues.

Wow!

You guys were right. The 20s are way to MUCH on this car. It just doesn't look right. The rims were conservative, black and silver with a titanium lip, but they were just to "big," to ghetto.

I bought a set of 10 hole LX wheels for $50 bucks yesterday. :D I'm thinking of powder coating them black or a yellow that matches the car and leaving the center caps alone. I've seen some wheels done like this on ebay, and I kind of liked it. With the money I saved on wheels, I'm going to re-do the seats, then the top.

Don't worry Bill. No halo head lights, no crazy wheels, no crazy wings or ground effects on the old girl. I just don't/won't spend the chedder on the original directionals, because, well, I just don't like them. Hey, I mean no offense. If we all had the same taste, we would all be driving the same car, with the same color, with the same everything. Plus, If I could find a set of directionals for around $4-500, I would buy them!

Thank You! I'm just not feeling the gold and yellow look. Maybe I just want something different. I don't know. :shrug

I'm sure someone has. looks like I'm too late, already have a responder who has.

What about 16s, or 17s?

IMHO, 20s seem like a bit much...... hope you don't hit a pothole with those.
