Antique Vehicle Show

This is a place where we discuss anything BUT ascMcLaren cars. TV, movies, vacations, family, pets, girlfriends, college, school, OTHER cars, whatever....that kinda thing. Taboo is Religion, Ethnic Background, Politics.

I'm just pokin' around lookin' at stuff Like this link.

It has no listing for Mustang or Shelby - only modified, instead of unmodified (that sucks).

I guess our cars would fall under "Street Machine" or "Sports Car" in addition to the "Automobile" category.

---After looking again, this is the 2010 info, the 2011 is not out yet but I'll be watching--

Thanks, Mike

No way I'll put my car in the show, it would never be ready, but I'd like to go for the experience.

Just kidding around a little bit ~ BUT now being very serious....
New Jersey is overpopulated, like you cannot imagine. IF one goes south, towards the bottom of the state, it's not as bad, but in the shadows of New York City, it's like "standing room only.
The traffic is asounding & everyone is constantly rushing.

Leasing cars is big here. People here are like "it's JUST a car..." I don't own it.... I lease it and I get a new one in 24 months, no big deal....
There is absolutly no attachment to a car. It's like a paperplate.
There are thousands of auto body shops, and they all make alot of money.

Against this backdrop, comes me. So many times I have heard, "It's JUST a car..." See? there is no love here - nor appreciation for rare
cars. The masses do not even
understand what you mean when you say a RARE CAR??!!
It's just fly, cut in, cut out, cut off and race up to the traffic light, to be 1st.
So, it's really not enjoyable to drive in this climate. When I do take them out, it's May thru September) it's a Sunday AM - around 7 in the morning, when most all sleeping or just getting up and the roads are pretty empty and the big Box stores are not yet open.

The further time goes on, and the larger the population gets, the less of a size cross section of the popultion is that comes from our cut of the mold.

Society is being conditioned to care less about a material object such as a car. The populus is still churning out a few young ones like us. A few that the media machine has no effect on. A few that don't care to conform, and it seems to me, the denser the population, the easier it is for them to get that deer in the headlights and bring their Buck buddies with them. Who doesn't want what's "In".....ME. Functionality sell a product for me, and for machines, there has to be that, ability to become a classic. So, we are naturally attracted to the cars we own for aesthetics, and of course their abilities. Whether we use them or look at them, they are equally satisfying.

I've been accused of being born 30 years too late. I think it's because I don't allow anyone to think for me and when I turn on the boob tube, all I can say is..."What the hell is going on". Why would anyone want to pay for something that they don't get to keep. Rent is one thing, even though it was hell for me to live in a place I didn't own for a measly three years, But a car? no way.

I'm fortunate to be an overnighter at my job, but if I have to run errands during the day I go absolutely nuts with traffic because I normally don't encounter snags while traveling.

I'm certain that your neighborhood is a lot more packed than Chicago, Sandy. I love the city I live in, but nothin beats a blast down a farm road where nothing can touch ya, and no one can find ya. (by touch ya, I mean damage your ride, and your pride)
