ASCMcLaren pictures

Post by Tom S. »

Sadly but with zero regret cause they weren't mine, I've deleted the assembly line pictures. I got a nice call from Jim Dingell, owner of PPI and said photos, today and he kindly asked that I not display them any longer. I'm fine with this. With SOPA and PIPA in the news lately and the issue of copyright being what it is lately I'm also considering doing something with all the other pics I've been hosting as well. I enjoyed 'collecting' as many pics as I could over the years of McLarens and thought it would be a great database and it is but..... They're not mine. I get tons of hits for the M81 pics from Four Eyed Pride and tons from here as well, it's been cool being the go to guy for pics of this nature but that's going to have to change I guess. So, if you see broken links, you'll know why

This is disappointing. They are valuable pieces of information on how the cars began there journey. I hope that they get displayed somewhere by Jim. Hey is a great guy and has been a valuable asset to some McLaren information and the SSP communityfor me.

Thanks Kendal. I didn't delete the M81 stuff so I could make sure I have it all on my hard drive first. I haven't decided yet what to do with the M81 yet, where else is someone going to find pictures of the majority of those cars built. I have permission to share a majority of those pictures but its been awhile since it was granted. I really wish someone would do a definitive account of the M81 program.

I spoke with Jim at PPI. He has something he's going to publish soon so we'll be seeing the pictures again shortly.

Jim is pretty cool about it. He thought it would be fine if the pictures he doesn't use in his publication are available here with credit given to him and/or the photographer.

He was very frustrated at other car groups that have been using his pictures without so much as giving proper credit.

Yep. That covers it. I regretfully didn't give him credit but I honestly couldn't remember who the pics were sourced from. I'd had them for about 20 years.

Anybody can use any of my pictures at anytime for any reason. I'm not in the business of taking taking pictures for profit, although I do have a copyrighted picture of the St. Petersburg, Florida skyline, at sunset, taken from the water.

It's sad that some folks do nnot understand that this is sorta a hobby and that it is important to some good, honest, people. I guess today that there alot of "evil" doings and that has everyone's hair standing straight up.
(Not me, for I am now bald) but 'ya know what I mean.
