WTT: 83-85 Capri Bubbleback hatch for 86 Capri Hatch

Post by svt1996cobra »

I have a very good used bubbleback hatch for a 1983-85 Capri (without 3rd brake light) that I would like to trade for a bubbleback hatch for a 1986 Capri (with 3rd brake light). The hatch I have is from Colorado and is rust free. The only flaw is someone drilled 2 small holes and put a old style Capri emblem on it. No rust. I will not sell the 83-85 Hatch.

Thanks,

David

David, I have a '86 hatch sitting in the basement. It is rust free except for a fair amount of surface rust. Maybe we could swap them out.
The one I have is a silver/grey color, what color is the one you have?

Zen,

The one I have is blue, close to 85 Mclaren blue ( No, it is not the one from my 85 Mclaren) a friend of mine brought it back from Colorado. Can you shoot me pictures of yours? I have someone else interested in a swap also.

Don't you need a hatch for your 86 Capri?

That's kind of a funny statement considering asc coupes came in 3 blue colors. 84, 85, 86 each had their own blue. All were dark but none were the same.

The orignal hatch that is on the car is still ok, some rust. When it does get repainted I would like to eliminate the third brake light, so the '85 style would work for me.

Mike,

Off hand, do you know the 3 paint codes?

I'm not sure ? But, you may run into some trouble when it comes
time for your safety inspection. Since, the 86 and up had the
third brake light and was required.

If the inspection guys notice, you will FAIL your inspection. You are required by federal law to have a third brake light on all 86 and newer cars.

Inspection? What is that?
We live in Michigan, we don't need no stinkin' safety inspections. :taunt:

Seriously, over the years I have seen so many burned out third brake lights on Michigan cars that it seems our law enforcement doesn't even care about them as long as the normal two are in working order.

I work on cars in MI. People/Police just dont care as long as 1 is working, they NEVER want us to fix them. And lets not talk about wiper blades(4"-8" snow coming and blades are half off and they dont want them fixed.
