recaro seats needs restoring

Hello to everyone, is their anyone who knows where I can get my recaro
seats restored

to factory new, anyones help would be appreciated

I've been told by my local interior guy: He was familar with the model seats used but thought they were a small run batch back in the day and that no Recaro support is available today on new leather.

Apparently, they were a model with a lot of options. The Recaro web site has them listed but they don't look 100% the same. The manual implies that as well. It seems the seat back can be different as well as the seat bottom. Kind of like, build what you want. Unfortuantely, today that usually means out of luck.

I called a local Recaro supplier and was quoted $1000 per seat but he really didn't confirm if he was making them or ordering them. Another local guy said $600 per seat but he was pushing vinyl and everything was $600 from him. Vert top, $600 to install....

I have not given up yet, but for now I'm looking at 87-93 seats recovered in leather. Seats can be picked up for $100 /pair and leather cost $595 for the kit at CJ Pony parts. I actually bought a pair of 89 McLaren Vert seats but they turned out to be junk. The covers were ok but the springs and frames were all rusted out.

svo413,I have an 85 vert too and I to are having no luck with finding anyone to restore these recardo's,push-come to shuv I might put some
thunderbird turbo coup seats in, but I would prefer to stay stock

The seats were a custrom run, done exclusively for ascMcLaren. There were very very similiar seats available from Recaro, but not exact.
ascMcLaren complained that their cost was too expensive. So, to that end, Recaro cheapened them, by omitting the AUTOMATIC heated control shut off for the heated seats, that is why 90% of them are burned out and no longer "heat". It was to shut off at 8 minutes after being clicked "on" and to stay OFF until a pre-selected time frame sensor deemed they were cool enough to be used again.

Regarding the leather, I fail to see why or how a quality automotive seat place could not re-cover the seats in a darm close color leather, following the same style. Yes, it's costly.

The closest Recaro seat is the "N" model, which may be discontinued.

Thanks guys for the help you've really helped me along. I will look in to
getting them recoverd and hope they can fix the heating pad. Sandy are
these recardo's seats going to be worth any thing $$$$ down the road
because if the cost is to high to have them recoverd I will look in to the
"N"model, do you have a contact # for the recardo seat dealer

GQ: There is NO "d" IN RECARO !!

I would use the 'net to locate. I am pretty sure Recaro is in Texas.

They are probably worth no more or less than any OTHER decent seat, but in this application they are worth MORE as they make the car correct.
