Where's Waldo ?

Okay. Game time. Here's an e-bay masterpiece (according to seller). How many things can you find wrong with this "perfect car". (Hint: 4)

E-Bay Item # : 380070613484

8 - 18 - 23 -30 - 35 are the small pic #s (going across as you are reading this - left to right that best show the errors).

I think i found 4 of Sandys 5 plus another. if the frt plate holder is wrong I would say that it's Ok because of some state laws require it. And Ford would ship the cars with it loose.

Mike N. the battery is wrong but something else in the picture maybe 2 things.

did you notice the other cars? Almost all BENZ's in the lot. At lest the ASC is in with a GOOD crowd

I did count left to right. and I counted 41 pictures starting with 1 as the first on left of the top 6. How did you count?

But I found

1-horn button,
2 -A/C converted to R134a,
3- oil fill cap worn or wrong "no yellow print"
4-Battery wrong but Ford After market"ok".
5- Floor mats
6- tires
7- O Ya Speedo has been changed!!
8- Is the Top wrong?
9- plate holder?
Did I miss something else

Here's my stab at it......

1 - incorrect placement of dash plaque on passenger side
2 - incorrect floor mats
3 - incorrect top (?????) guessing
4 - incorrect aftermarket (wrong design) replacement headlamp

Ok, What's the answers Sandy......

Sandy said there were only 4........ good call on the horn pad, I missed that. Speedo is correct though..... what's wrong with it? its an 85 mph black, same as mine and never been changed.

Sorry I took so long to get back ...BUT

Post by Sandy »

Friends dropped in for the Jewish Holy-Day, today and with all the drinking & smoozing I 4-got. Sorry !

Here you are....
I did not pick up on horn button ... I have to go back & look

1. The top is a replacement and is way far away from correct. Stitching is all wrong. Small rear windows, per ususal are way too tall and too wide.

2. The car's a total repaint. Look at pic of open tonneau (close up Pic)
The tonneau is closed 99% of the time, right? Therefore fade is almost impossible. Look how much deeper / brighter the trunk lid is in the same photo as compared to the panel UNDER the tonneau.

3. More proof of repaint....the side Peter Muscat Design plaque is way way above the side moulding, it was probably removed for the paint job and reinstalled too high as nobody bothered to snap a photo for proper repplacement.

4. The anntenna is correct !!

5. But.....in the repaint, again they messed up. They painted the engine bay RED. You all know it's supposed to be black as the cars werre all black (except for the blue interior cars that had white bodies & white engine bays that required X-tra work for ASC, as they painted them BLACK. None ever have color matched to body engine bays!

6. Yes, of course the Dash plaque.

This car is NOT nice! For the mileage, why did it require a new top and a full repaint??? At 9,000 Miles??? Geez.

Pic # 8 - Replacement roof. Stitching is all wrong, and perusual the little wrap-around windows are much too big (High)

Pic # 30 - Area below Tonneau Cover, is never open to fade, yet, look how much deeper & richer the trunk lid (in same photo) is than the always covered up area below (underneath) the tonnea cover is. Car's a repaint !

Pic # 35 The Engine bays were all black. All cars arrived at ascMcLaren painted BLACK with Black Engine Bays, that ascMclaren left BLACK, except cars ordered with Blue interior, that were painted White on the exterior. THOSE cars (like my Azura Blue one) did have their engine beys painted....BLACK !! None were ever painted RED !!! Car's arepaint

Side Peter Muscat Design Plaque is way too high up and above the top of the bodyside molding. Probably removed for painting and they were too lazy to snap a cell phone picture to recall proper placement (1" above top of molding).

I missed the horn button, but that coulda been ascMclaren not yet recieving the ascMcLaren horn button if if if it was real early car.

The Antenna is correct.
Something funky is going on with the tape over the 1st photo of the odometer. ?????

LOL it's definitely a nice car Sandy...

What ascMcLaren - Besides yours - have not been repainted?

The interior is beautiful there is no wear...most asc's have a worn steering wheel and shift knob...
