springs

Post by 90asc »

Are they stock springs on the car or did they use a aftermarket spring?

Coupes used shorter specific-rate springs, lowering the ride height.

Not sure if they were the Motorsport part or unique to the ASCs.

MOTORSPORT would be correct. I have the part # if you need it.
Could be M-500

I believe they started out as custom to asc but they were adopted by Ford as one of their Motorsport springs. I think the Motorsport "B" springs.

I am not sure about that, Peter. Some 1984-1986 CAPRI converts, looked much lower than the coupes sitting next to them......????

The 85 vert ponydude has which I saw and appeared to have all its original parts seemed to sit pretty low.

I've always thought my 85 vert sat much lower than a normal Capri, but I wouldn't know what to look for underneath to tell if it has different springs.

Could be a special order or an owner-installed set, if you're not the original owner. More than a few of my Mustang buddies bought ASC-surplus springs when they were selling for $80 a set after Coupe production stopped.
