I looked at the entire site, employees, inventory of vehicles, and all else.

I would be very leery of buying there, because every car has at least 95,000 miles, several have flipped over 100,000 miles. They are buying them - probably from other dealers (trade-ins) that dealers do not want, because of the mileage, for dirt cheap and then spending a good chunk of change to make the interior & exterior look fantastic, which, I see that they do very well. Problem ? The mechanics are tired. I saw cars on there with well over 100,000 miles, that were 2004 models, with 100,000 on them. They look terrific, but what is REALLY going on with the water pump, A/C, shocks; Springs, Computers; power accessories???
When I worked for dealers, I saw cars that could be referred to as fat, wrinkled, wretched old whores that were sickly, brought all the way back to ballerina status - well in looks.
In most cases, a 'Stang with a 5.0 in a LX has NOT been driven by Grandma Moses!! More than likely, it has had the sugar beat outta it.
Watch 'ya step. If you cannot sleep without it..Offer $7,000
and do NOT move off of $7,000 ! Once you move UP, even to $7,100 -
you are dead !!!! Move up once... "He'll move twice" ALL dealers & sales people KNOW THAT !

Good advice. But when someone 'falls in love' with a hunk of iron, they are toast.

And no one ever admits they got a bad deal!!

I knew what I would pay when I went to Suncoast Ford and bought an Expedition on 10-1-10. Took my title, my trade and the wife. After all was said and done I got the vehicle I wanted at a price I am happy with. They didn't want me to walk out, Of course it took 5 hours. They pulled up my last deal and showed me, they made $68.00 net profit on the '07 F-150. I am a member of the DAV and can buy under the 'X' plan. Great way to buy. They are not allowed to pressure you into 'add ons', dealer fees, or extended warranty.

Taking it to SC tomorrow at 0600. It's getting 16.80-17.2 on the 2 tanks I've put in it so far. All city driving. That's a couple miles per better than the sticker said. But my '97 Expedition, people can't/won't believe, got as good a fuel mileage as the wife's Escape. Her daughter is still driving it with 300,000 miles on it. Needs a couple ball joints. Refused to give it back in exchange for a low mileage 2007 Ford Ranger Edge!! So I had to buy my own!

On the other hand............

More or less living at the hospital 25 hours a month, you get to meet new friends, who are doing likewise. Some of those people are not going to make it to this Christmas. What do they talk about ? They don't talk about what they did, they don't talk about what they bought and they don't talk about where they went. They only speak about what they wanted to purchase, but put on hold, where they had planned to vacation, next Summer and / or something they wanted to do.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> IT IS SAD <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

So, recalling conversations that I overhear, everytime I go, maybe there *IS* another side to it all. Perhaps I should say, if you MUST have that car or whatever, within normal boundries, then "put 'ya money on the table and drive it off the lot. Folks at the hospital never ever lament what they did - it's always about what they didn't !

Sitting in the infusion waiting room, one sees a different side of life.
It's "When our last child gets out of college"
"When the Mortgage is paid off"
"After we give our daughter a nice wedding"
"When I have more time"

Know what? Can you guarantee at such a time, that you will still be here?
Can you swear that you will be able to do..... or will you be in a wheelchair?

One day - while waiting , in the infusion waiting room, (it was a quiet, non eventfull day) when, suddenly Me & My wife (of 27 years) witnessed a man die - before our very eyes. One moment he was reading a magazine and the next moment he was on the floor, like a pile of wet clothes, no pulse. It was a massive heart attack.
Like the movie "Gone in 60 seconds"
I have never seen a armoured truck following a hearse...... :shrug

Always appreciate your good advice, guys. I was just looking at the color, not the car.

Although the car looks nice, I've seen too many at these little dealers that have been tidied up for sale in the last year.

I'd rather buy from a private party, and have him tell me the cars history and check it out for myself. Besides, I'm more in the, less than 3000.00 range if I could buy right now.

BTW, what do you guys think of the color?

I like the color, You don't see too many maroon exteriors. Funny that it has a 6 speed, never heard of someone putting that tranny behind a 5.0, normally reserved for the modular engines. I like the color because it is red without being too flash me, its not like the arrest me red on the mclarens (even though that is the color I will be painting 416).

This car didn't seem right, as I didn't think FOrd would put a Porno Red interior into a dark red car. Then I saw the engine compartment pictures and, aside from the funky alarm that looks like it was wired in by a 17 year old, I saw the compartment was painted black. OK, so the car is a repaint. But it gets better. The door sticker has the paint code as YO, which was white in 1991. I would not pay more than $4K for the car, probably not go over $3.5K.

Yeah, it's a "rich" color and the dealer knows it. And he knows he will get a sucker..er CUSTOMER who just HAS TO HAVE that color.

I had a neighbor who did auto body work and would get decent cars and fix the dings and shoot a nice paint job over it and double his money in a day.

A deap pearl/metallic gets them every time. He wouldn't change the color so much as start with the base color and add a hint of this or that (red metallic flex in a black paint, etc). It almost looked factory since it matched the door jambs and engine bay well enough, but it POPPED.

People would come along and snap them up. They couldn't care less about the rest of the car.

I've always wanted to put a six in one of my cars......just too much money and not enough quality. I believe in using things for their intended purpose and it just can't stand up to the punishment unless it's NASCAR quality equipment.

Since I sold cars, for "only" 30 years...I think I am over qualified to make a couple statements.

1. Window Stickers need to be brought down to $500 over Invoice.
2. Like a can of soup, cars should sell AT that price.
3. Just like a box of corn flakes.
4. Then, and ONLY then, the entire concentration would fall upon location to buyer and reputation for steller service, after the sale.

This will put an end to the B.S. on both the buyer's end and the seller's end.

Trades ins?? Wholesale Book Value. Take it or leave it.

All true. BUT I was told flat out by a dealer that they average WAY over $500 over invoice due to some losers walking in and paying MSRP or OVER MSRP for cars.

So that's just not gonna change.

MIKE, THAT IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE!!
What is true is AT THE END OF A MODEL YEAR, dealers get a certain amount of money (called "Holdback") from the CORPORATION.
Most use this money to makeup for shortfalls in the "new" model-year approaching, or paying down building morgage.

+1 for Sandy. I've been selling cars too and this holdback is reality. This is why we employees were allowed to buy cars at 200 over cost.

Maybe it's a regional thing. I know a few people who never haggle on car price. They go in and take the first offer. I also know people who buy whatever they want whenever they want. People commute in Shelby GTs and I see a Ferrarri every other day on my commute to work.

Living in a banking area tends to breed a lot of rich people.
