Yes because it is the Ford factor blue which came on the Capri. Ford changed it slightly from 84-86. With the Orange striping, you totally don't even realize the difference.ChuckG wrote:It was the most produced color combination, but the blue differs between the years.

Here are the color chips. The scans don't show the colors the best but I think you can see that the three Blues are very close.

That will tell you the paint code your car was painted.
You car is original paint, right Mike?

I was just looking at the chart Mike posted and it listed 7B for our cars for 86...my car isn't 7B! lolplumkrazy wrote:n20capri did you mean "7B > Shadow Blue Metallic of 1986:- 3865 " or is midnight blue another name for Shadow Blue Met?

Sometimes Ford and Mercury had slightly different names for the same colors, although the codes were the same.
5C > Dark Academy Blue Metallic of 1984
3L > Midnight Blue Metallic of 1985
7B > Dark Shadow Blue Metallic of 1986
Of course those three are not the only ones.
Ford called them...5C > Dark Cadet Blue Metallic of 1984
3L > Dark Blue Metallic of 1985
7B > Shadow Blue Metallic of 1986
5C > Dark Academy Blue Metallic of 1984
3L > Midnight Blue Metallic of 1985
7B > Dark Shadow Blue Metallic of 1986
Of course those three are not the only ones.
Do you have your buck tag? Door tag?
My door tag has no color code. My buck tag had "3LL" stamped in it for the color code.
This will be the definitive answer.
If you look at the Capri lit...they didn't offer anything other than 7B for the 1986 Capri.
