I just purchased a 1988 Mclaren Mustang, dash number is 1163.I would like to learn some history on the car if anyone know's any,or,that I should get lucky enough for the original owner to see this. The car is yellow, and I've been told that only twoom '88's were painted as such. Thanks John

John,

Expanding on what Peter informed you about, your car is 1 of 23 total in Hot Yellow.

And, It is 1 of 2 (black top)

As far as value goes, I'm sure you know that almost everything is down now, (its a good time to buy toys if you have the $$$$ - boats, cars, etc.) IMHO, only the very clean cars are bringing respectable money now. I don't know how clean yours is, you'll have to post some pictures. IMHO the cars were never marketed right by Ford/ASC (which is why so many people don't even know about them), plus the fact that Ford/ASC decided not to touch the engine didn't help either. Especially since Saleens and Roushes were being sold with distinctive exterior styling PLUS nice engine upgrades. Many say that McLarens were not meant to be a stoplight screamer, but IMO, they could've offered a few mild engine mods just to step it up and away from the standard GT.

Cobra

I know, confusing he mentions beige/tan in one post, then mentions gray in the other. Both interior options were offered with Hot Yellow.
