Armrest removal?

Post by 07SGT5687 »

Anyone know the proper way to remove the door arm rests on an 88? Mines gotten a bit loose and I want to make sure all the support are on correctly. The plastic is getting a bit brittle and I don't want to break anything getting aggressive. I got the front area off, but the rear portion is not budging. I suspect I need to pop the light/reflector out? But again, 30 year old brittle plastic, I didn't want to experiment.

Thanks!

Go to ascmclaren.com to the Service Manuals section. There is a 2 page section for "Door". this has a one page written description and a one page diagram. The first few steps describe removing the arm rest. I believe this is just for the Mustangs as it did not match my Capri. I ended up getting a used Chilton book on amazon.

The clear lens has a clip on both ends. You can carefully pry it out for access.
