"ST" is not on Buck Tags from San Jose-built Mustangs and Capris.
"ST" is not on some Buck Tags from '79-model-year Dearborn-built Mustangs and Capris.
Surely the cars that didn't have "ST" on their Buck Tag still had a spare tire.

The front license plate bracket was either standard (in states that had a front plate) or optional through the '84 model year (gold-colored on the Black Magic and Crimson Cat). It was no-cost either way. After '84 I could find no reference to the front bracket, either as standard or as optional equipment.
The rear license plate frame was standard equipment on the Black Magic and Crimson Cat (gold-colored on both). I could find nowhere that it was optional on any other model.

Good point, since it doesn't look like there is enough room for a full size spare, but DF and ST is a very common build code for them to be on most buck tags. So logically, we are overlooking a couple of very common builds, what ever they might be. Its kind of fun just trying to noodle it thru and figure out what they are.
Are these codes used on other Ford models too? If so, then maybe ST could be space saver tire, and on other Ford cars such as a Crown Vic maybe they would have a code other than ST for a full size tire?

Do all the T-roofs and Convertibles just only have DF without the ST?
Do all the Coupes and HB's have it listed as DF ST?
Does anyone have access to a car without the DF and/or ST on the buck tag? Being able to go over one with a 'fine-toothed comb' to visually compare what it has and doesn't have to a similarly equipped car that has the DF/ST is probably the only way this will get figured out. A side-by-side comparison in a parking lot or driveway would be awesome.
