Electric trunk lid release
Electric trunk lid release
I have a 1985 ASC convertible. I removed the Ricaro seats and after reinstalling them the trunk will not release from the glovebox button. Where do I start to look for a solution?
Might be a stupid question but you do have your key in the ignition with it turned to the on position just before it cranks the engine? Mine has to be in the on position before it will work.

I tried every possible combination, to no avail.03Mach1 wrote:Might be a stupid question but you do have your key in the ignition with it turned to the on position just before it cranks the engine? Mine has to be in the on position before it will work.

Electric Trunk Problem
Get a test light, Clip the ground to the body, thenplace the tip of the tester on the positive lead. Have someone push the button and see if the light comes on. If it does you have a problem with trunk latch. If the light does not work. remove the switch from the glove box or console. Test the lead to the button. If you have power, then the lead to the trunk is open (bad) or you have a bad button. If you have no power , then check the fuse under the dash. If the fuse is good then check one side of the fuse box for power. It could be a bad wire to the fuse box or a bad wire to the trunk release button.

You can find them on ebay fairly readily for around $30 complete - it's actually the trunk pull down motor from an early-80's Caddy.
