so my U-joints went out and made a mess of things with my tranny. I wanted to confirm with you guys is our (86 convert) is the AOD? To my surprise I'm having a hard time finding one on the Middle TN area.

Maybe it was replacement wood? The Kit you could by from Hank is glued if I'm not mistaken.

Yea Kent I know exactly where Tater Peel road is. Its a small back road now.

Mine has screws sadly the wood has seen better days.

This Switch was causing me a lot of problems. All I had to do was touch the wheel or the column a certain way and the car would go dead. It was dangerous when turning in busy intersections and the car would shut off.

My Gauges would die and com back on. really weird stuff. The part is 12 bucks at ...

Mike your money- Weather has been bad here the last 2 weeks and got a beautiful day to get this done. The Ignition switch was my problem.

Took 5 minutes and a #6 star socket.

As you can see mine was splitting apart.

Ok I picked up the switch however does our cars have the protective torx screws?

Update on this, pump is fine, New IAC- even though it runs a tad smoother it did not fix my stalling issue. I think my problem is in the steering column. The wheel is a little loose around the tilt. I can start the car and wiggle the wheel and it will stall.

Any idea's

In some cases yes pumping the gas will keep it going but in most cases the car goes dead in the middle of a turn with no chance to keep it going.

My idle seems ok. I have the occasional surg but not so much after replacing the tps sensor. I clean the iac every couple of months but i am thinking ...

pretty much sums it up i can have the car in idle and if i turn the wheel the car will stall out. Now when I drive at first any turns i make will cause the car to stallout. After its good and warm all is good.
Any idea's?

Yea, Mine didn't want to come out at first and I was afraid of breaking the stem. I tapped it on the ground and it came out.

Got it off.... had to take the stem and the dohicky it sits in. Then whack the other end to disengage the little lip on the stem.

I bought a new one however cant seem to get my stem out of the old switch. Any Advise?
